Join us at 12:30pm on SPAC grounds as Radial Arts presents Under the Sea, a festive afternoon of aquatic-themed dance, music, and theatre, including premiere performances of The Coral Sea, a short play written by Alexandra Marello (Skidmore College), and The Little Prince and the Planet of Music, a new composition created through Saratoga Chamber Players’ “Classroom to Concert” program with students from the Lake Ave Elementary School. Reality Dance Studios REDC and RDCT will be performing at the

Saratoga Performing Arts Center Ballet Gala July 20th.

REDC company members and members of the RDCT will be performing two new pieces, “Ladies of the Lake “ “Selene” of which both pieces were created for and inspired by the theme of the gala: Apollo and his muses: A summer Celebration.

“Ladies of the Lake” is a contemporary ballet piece inspired by the legend of The Lady of the Lake, also known as Nimue or Vivienne. Nimue is thought to be related to Mneme, the shortened form of Mnemosyne, one of the nine water-nymph Muses of Roman and Greek Mythology who gave weapons, not unlike Arthur's sword, to the heroic Perseus.

“Selene” a contemporary piece is the portrayal of Selene, Greek goddess of the Moon and her reign over the night and movement in the sky.

This year’s Ballet Gala, Apollo & The Muses: A Summer Celebration, will be held on Saturday, July 20, 2019. One of Balanchine’s early celebrated works, Apollo takes us on a breathtaking visual journey exploring the inspiration behind beauty and greatness. A not-to-be-missed event, the evening will highlight the beauty of the classical arts in an idyllic setting only SPAC and the Saratoga Spa State Park can offer.

Since 1966, the Ballet Gala has been the highlight of the Saratoga Performing Arts Center summer season. This year’s event honors our rich history with an elegant seated dinner in the Hall of Springs, while adding new layers of excitement with interactive, immersive performances, Jazz Bar access throughout the performance, and new Lawn Party activities. A brilliant fireworks display and live music with dancing under the stars in The Gala Tent round out an unforgettable evening.

NYCB Gala attendees can choose from a range of experiences including:

The Ballroom Gala complete with gourmet food and craft cocktail stations, preferred amphitheater seating, fireworks, post-performance dessert and cocktails in the Jazz Bar, dancing and activities on the SPAC grounds;
The Lawn Party featuring outdoor picnics and thematic tents, lawn admission for the NYCB performance, fireworks, post-performance dancing and activities on the SPAC grounds
