  At Reality Dance Studio we want to make sure that training is available to all passionate dancers. Reality Dance Studio offers Work-Study positions and Internships opportunities to  help dancers and young adults  with tuitions and to enhance a brighter future. The Work-Study and Internship programs will help better prepare our dancers for real world jobs and professional working experience. 


Work-Study Positions

Reality Dance Studios offers partial scholarships to dancers who are interested in studying dance at our school. We offer a variety of classes  such as: Ballet, Jazz, Modern, Tap, Pointe, Acrobatics, Hip Hop, Zumba and Yoga. 

The scholarships function as a work/study exchange. Scholarship students perform responsible, ongoing jobs in the operation of Reality Dance Studio in exchange for tuition reduction. These jobs include teaching assistants, substitute teaching of classes, show assistants,and studio property management etc. Depending on the position and its specific requirements, Work/Study students work an average of 10 hours per month and varies among a weekly, bi-weekly or monthly commitment.


Requirements

  • 3-month commitment
  • Availability of time to focus on program
  • Interest in Dance Place classes and facility:  At least 5 hours of classes/ week.
  • Volunteer at Reality Dance Studios shows, recitals and events.

  • No cell phone usage
  • No surfing the net/personal emails or checking MySpace & Facebook
  • Staying informed:  reviewing newsletters, websites regularly.
  • Checking the messages and restrooms hourly for upkeep.
  • Do not allow anyone behind the front desk unless they are a staff member.
  • Do not allow anyone to use the phones w/o permission and YOU dial the number for them…local calls ONLY.

Internship Opportunities

Get hands-on experience with the staff and faculty at Reality Dance Studio. Reality Dance Studio is an exciting new studio that offers instruction in dance styles from ages 3 to adult. Our main objective is to provide the highest quality of dance training!   This is a rare opportunity to sample the real world of dance.

Internship Goals:

  • To learn how a Studio functions in all the areas (marketing, customer service, instruction, etc.)
  • To broaden the scope of career opportunities in dance.
  • To further the dance skills of aspiring professional dancers.
  • The above goals are achieved through three aspects of the internship: administrative and facility work, participation in professional dance classes and staff mentorship.

Administrative and Facility Work: Interns work administratively 2 hours per week as the Reality Dance Studio receptionist, and administrative assistant to staff members. Responsibilities include interacting with the public, customer relations, registration of students for classes, responding to requests for information and general support to the Public Relations, Membership, Box Office, Production and Fundraising departments. Maintaining the cleanliness of the facility is expected. 

Classes: Interns MUST participate in ADVANCED dance classes offered on a daily basis at Reality Dance Studio including  Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Modern and Pointe. Interns occasionally participate in assistant teaching of children's classes if they hold that interest.

Eligibility: Adults (age 17 and older) who are pursuing careers in dance in college, post college or are hoping to make a career transition to the field of dance or business or marketing administration. Must have good knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel spreadsheet; experience in customer relations is advantageous. Be ready to work hard, have an open mind, and be flexible within a constantly changing environment.
